Terms of Service

The service

Syllavo is a scheduling, lesson management, and invoicing tool for independent tutors. We provide the software platform; you provide the tutoring services. We are not a tutoring agency and have no involvement in the tutoring relationship between you and your students or their parents.

Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to create a Syllavo account
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account

Your data

• You own your data. Lesson notes, student records, and invoices belong to you
• You can export your data at any time
• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time

Parent and student data

• As a tutor, you are responsible for having appropriate consent from parents before adding their contact information to Syllavo
• You must not add contact information for children under 18 — use parent/guardian contact details only
• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter about your students and their parents

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Syllavo for any unlawful purpose
• Upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the service
• Resell or redistribute the service without permission

Payments and billing

Free plan

• Free to use with the limitations described on our pricing page
• No credit card required

Paid plans (Plus and Pro)

• Paid plans are subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly, or yearly if you choose annual billing) and charge your saved payment method, until you cancel
• Billed via Stripe at the prices shown on our pricing page
• 30-day free trial on all paid plans — no credit card required during the trial
• After the trial, add a payment method to keep your paid plan; otherwise your account reverts to Free
• Cancel at any time from the billing portal in your account settings; paid features stay active until the end of the current billing period
• We do not pro-rate refunds for partial months
• If you believe you've been billed in error, email hello@tutor-kit.com and we'll investigate
• We may change prices with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers

Tutor payments from parents (Pro plan)

• Syllavo facilitates payment collection between tutors and parents via Stripe Connect
• Lesson payments go directly from the parent to the tutor's connected Stripe account. We do not hold or process these payments
• Stripe's terms of service apply to all payment transactions

Lesson payment refunds (Pro plan)

• Tutors can issue refunds to parents directly from Syllavo
• Refunds process through Stripe and typically appear on the parent's card within 5–10 business days
• The full lesson amount is returned to the parent
• Stripe's processing fees on the original payment are not refunded by Stripe. This cost is borne by the tutor
• Cancellation policies between tutors and parents — e.g. notice required before cancelling a lesson, refund eligibility for missed lessons — are set by individual tutors and not enforced by Syllavo
• Syllavo does not mediate refund disputes between tutors and parents. If you need to reach your tutor about a refund, please contact them directly

Availability

• We aim to keep Syllavo available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted service
• We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice
• We are not liable for any loss arising from service downtime
• While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we do not guarantee against loss or corruption — please keep your own copies of important data using the export feature

Lesson reminders and emails

• Syllavo sends automated email reminders and notifications on your behalf
• You are responsible for ensuring the email addresses you provide are correct and that recipients have consented to receive communications
• We are not liable for missed lessons due to undelivered reminders

Intellectual property

• Syllavo and its design, code, and branding are owned by Bluebell Labs Ltd
• Content you create (lesson notes, student records) remains yours
• You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and transmit that content only as needed to provide the service to you
• By using Syllavo, you do not gain any rights to our intellectual property

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Syllavo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
• We are not responsible for the quality of tutoring services provided by tutors using our platform
• Syllavo is a software tool only — we do not provide tutoring and make no guarantee as to any grade, exam result, or academic outcome arising from tutoring arranged or managed through the Service
• We are not liable for any tax obligations arising from your tutoring income — you are responsible for your own tax affairs

Termination

• You can delete your account at any time from your settings page
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our privacy policy

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
